Email of Intent Workshop

Peer Review Draft

Please submit a draft of your email of intent to the the appropriate topic in the Workshop forum on Moodle by Wednesday, May 20th at 11:59pm. This draft should meet all of the requirements for that assignment, but it doesn’t need to be as polished. Please do not post your email as an attachment. Instead, type it or copy-and-paste it into the text field.

Peer Review Response

Once you have submitted your draft to the forum, you will then need to offer a short peer review (100-150 words) of 2 other emails. According to Reynolds and Russell (2008), “the goal of peer review is to help you learn to give effective feedback to your classmates about their writing” (29). If you haven’t done a peer review before or recently, I would suggest that you review some of their criteria here.

Generally speaking, you want to highlight areas where someone has done well and offer suggestions for where you think their writing could use some improvement. Peer reviews are especially good for helping you determine if your words are effectively translating what’s going on in your head. All that being said, you peer reviews should include:

  • A recognition of where a classmate did something well.
  • A question about an area of confusion.
  • A respectful suggestion for making the current draft smoother, clearer, stronger, etc.
  • A one sentence summary (in your own words) describing their research interests

Each responses should be submitted as a reply to the post created by the student under review. This assignment is due by Thursday, May 21st at 11:59PM. Don’t post a reply to your own post (unless it’s to thank or further discuss feedback with your reviewer)!

**Aim to comment on posts that don’t have a lot of responses because I don’t want any posts without at least one reply.**
